Nous Research has announced computer use capabilities for their Hermes Agent, in collaboration with trycua. The integration allows any AI model running through Hermes Agent to directly control a computer — navigating browsers, clicking UI elements, typing into forms, and executing complex multi-step desktop tasks without human intervention.

What "Computer Use" Means in Practice

Computer use is the ability for an AI agent to perceive and interact with a desktop GUI the same way a human would — by looking at the screen, moving the cursor, and pressing keys. Unlike code execution or API calls, computer use works on any software, including legacy apps, websites without APIs, and proprietary tools that have no programmatic interface.

Anthropic pioneered the concept with Claude's computer use feature, but Nous Research's approach extends this to a broader model ecosystem. Because Hermes Agent supports multiple models, computer use becomes a capability any compatible model can access — not just Claude.

The combination of Hermes Agent's open-source flexibility with computer use unlocks a new class of automation.
